With the release of the Asus G75VW gaming laptop just around the corner, here’s some of the system specs and features to help you decide if it’s the right laptop for you.

Is The Asus G75VW Any Good?
The Asus G75VW powerhouse is the successor to the G74SX that was introduced last summer. The G75VW’s processor has been upgraded to a quad-core Intel Core i7-Ivy Bridge CPU @ 2.3 GHz, which as well as great performance, will offer improved battery life.
We will also see a new graphics card in the form of the NVidia GeForce GT 660M, which has very healthy 2GB of GDDR5 video memory. The Asus G75VW is the first laptop to use Nvidia’s new Kelper architecture.
Asus G75VW Specs And Features
There’s no doubt the Asus G75VW ticks the right boxes when it comes to the CPU and graphics card, but what about the other specs and features?
The G75 uses the same modest, attractive design and 17.3 inch display as the G74SX. The G75VW is a bit lighter though, coming it at 8.7 lbs, which is 1.2 lbs lighter its predecessor.
You can expect to see 12GB DDR3 memory (upgradable to 16GB) running at 1600MHz, and a fast 1.5 TB hybrid hard drive.
Depending on which model you buy, you can have either a Full HD (1920 × 1080) or HD (1600 × 900) screen with support for 3D
Photos of Asus’ flagship laptop at CES earlier this year show a DVD burner, USB 3.0, a HDMI 1.4a output, as well as various other video connectors.

There is a mistake in specs 3.60GHz i7-3720QM should be 2.60GHz for i7-3720QM.
Thanks very much for pointing the typo out, I’ve updated it.

Also the G75 at this time does not have Thunderbolt. There is no thunderbolt hardware inside the system its just a Mini Display port with the thunderbolt icon. This was marketing scam to sucker people into buying the system even tho they do not list thunderbolt under its specs. Thunderbolt supporting G75′s should be out soon but no date was ever given.
I know the specs say up to 16GB RAM…has anyone tried installing 32GB RAM? I have a Dell 3205 which supports 8GB, but I installed 16GB and it works flawlessly…the Dell is slow, but no memory issues to speak of.
Not that we’ve seen, but it’s because there isn’t any need. 16GB and over would only be beneficial to someone using incredibly intense graphical design applications, or server OS’s, which the Asus G75VW isn’t suitable for.
