Can you play PSP games on PS3, a friend of mine asked recently. The simple answer is yes AND no – okay, so not so simple. In terms of simply playing the games as they are, there are some games designed to run on both the PSP and PS3 without any modifications or anything of the sort. These dual platform games are usually labelled “can be played on PS3/PSP” in the games description on the box.
What about playing ordinary PSP games on PS3?
By default, most PSP games can only be played on a PSP – no coincidence there. If you don’t mind parting with your hard earned cash, the COBRA USB hack is probably the most user friendly way to get this done. On the other hand, if you’re able to follow a moderately easy tutorial and don’t mind modifying your console yourself, then there are a few steps you can take to get any PSP game running on your PS3 console without spending a single cent.
First, let me show you a video of it in action:
How it’s done
As much as I’d love to give you a run down of the steps myself, the info is already plastered all over the internet. Check it out HERE.
