GameStop and EB Games To Face Same Future As Blockbuster

With cloud computing being the newest and coolest way to store your personal content, data, applications, games, movies, music, and more gaming systems are following the same route.

Why go to the game store when you can sit there playing a game, while another downloads?  Why pay extra to reserve a copy, wait in line, stand through extra selling points at the register, deal with the traffic, and the other dweebs waiting to get the game who can’t wait to crank one to it soon as they get home?  Exactly our point to why cloud gaming will soon take over.

Android has already announced the Ouya, a cloud gaming based console that will run off of Google Play.  Playstation 4 is rumored to also adapt cloud technology to have their games instantly downloadable.  Xbox 720 is following most likely, as with the current Xbox 360 can already download games from the marketplace such as Super Meatboy one of the greatest games to ever be released over Xbox Live.

We hate to dumb down one of the greatest experiences of our child hood with going to the game store, but to be honest with everything instantly available the store just gets scarier and scarier like Blockbuster (A Nightmare on FaceTime from South Park).

The good news is that GameStop or EB Games won’t be going away anytime soon.  However, there’s going to be big changes in the gaming community as people are downloading more and more content to interact with.  So enjoy them while they last if you do, but the fact of the matter is that like DVD/Blu-Ray it will fade away into digital streaming.
